At Voice in Ministry, we believe the voice is more than an instrument—it is a God-designed gift, entrusted to us for ministry.
Every voice has been intentionally created by God with purpose. It enables us to communicate truth, lead worship, encourage others and proclaim the Gospel. Like every gift God entrusts to us, our voice deserves to be understood, developed and stewarded with wisdom.
We believe that caring for the voice is not simply a matter of vocal improvement; it is an act of faithful stewardship.
Our Philosophy
The human voice is a remarkable instrument because it reflects God's intentional design.
Healthy singing is not achieved by forcing one part of the voice to work harder than another. Instead, it is the result of many systems working together according to their design.
Breath supports the sound.
The vocal folds create vibration.
Resonance shapes tone.
The tongue, lips and jaw form words.
Each part has a unique role, yet none functions effectively in isolation.
Just as Scripture teaches that the body has many parts working together for one purpose, so the voice reaches its fullest potential when every part works in harmony according to its design.
For us, vocal technique is not separate from faith.
Understanding how the voice works helps us appreciate the wisdom of our Creator, whilst developing healthy technique enables us to steward His gift with greater excellence, confidence and longevity.
We believe the instrument itself reflects a theology of purpose, design and stewardship.
Our Mission
Voice in Ministry exists to equip worship leaders and Christian singers to steward the voice God has entrusted to them.
Through the integration of vocal science, practical technique and biblical principles, we help individuals understand, develop and care for their voices so they can communicate God's truth with clarity, confidence and excellence.
Our mission is not just to help people sing better. Our mission is to help people minister more effectively by faithfully stewarding the voice God has given them.
The Voice in Ministry Method
Everything we teach follows four simple movements.
Understand
Learn how the voice has been designed and how it functions as one coordinated instrument.
Develop
Build healthy vocal habits through practical technique, consistent practice and growing awareness.
Steward
Care for the voice with wisdom through preparation, recovery and healthy vocal choices that support long-term ministry.
Minister
Use the voice confidently and faithfully to communicate God's truth and lead others in worship.
Technique is only part of the journey - faithful ministry is the final destination!
The Voice in Ministry Philosophy
Our teaching is built on seven biblical principles.
1. Life — Breath
Healthy singing begins with breath, the very gift God first gave humanity. Breath is both the foundation of vocal freedom and a reminder that every voice begins with the life He gives.
2. Influence — Tongue
The tongue shapes both our words and our witness. Healthy articulation allows our speech to communicate with intention, truth and grace.
3. Clarity — Diction
The Gospel deserves to be heard and understood. Clear diction ensures that the message is communicated faithfully and confidently.
4. Unity — Blend
The voice functions best when every part works together according to its design. As breath, vocal folds, resonance and articulation become coordinated, the instrument becomes balanced, connected and free.
5. Discernment — Dynamics
Great communication is not simply about volume, but wisdom. Dynamics help us express meaning, emotion and truth appropriately for every moment.
6. Stewardship — Rest
Rest is not the absence of training but an essential part of it. Recovery protects the voice, promotes longevity and honours the gift God has entrusted to us.
7. Preparation — Warm-Up
Preparation is an act of stewardship. Just as we prepare our hearts before ministry, we prepare our voices so they are ready to serve with confidence and excellence.

hi! I'm dionne
30 years ago, I was baby christian, fresh out of the baptism pool. Singing in the church choir was a gateway into church life for newbies and was the main form of congregational worship. It was done at every opportunity allowed during the service.
It was a joy singing in the choir, travelling to different churches. Ministering in concerts and conventions. Choir was community.
However, there was a downside; the negative impact on my voice.
Christian Vocal coaching was practically non-existent back in the 90’s. You were expected to sing and sound powerful, even if you were doing it wrong!
Truth is, I was never going to be satisfied with 'singing confidently wrong'.
I wanted change!
My singing changed when I decided I no longer wanted to push, strain or lose my voice. I wanted to hit my notes and sing with freedom. But, most of all I wanted to sing with understanding and confidence in my own vocal abilities.
Today I help singers who are tired of vocal stress and pushing through songs hoping to sound good, using my 7 Pillars of Vocal Stewardship(c) program.

why voice in ministry?
Voice in Ministry (VIM) exists to Educate, Equip and Empower singers to lead worship without fear, with skill and confidence.
Originally called SOS Vocal Training (SOS), VIM started in 2010 as a response to singers looking for Christian vocal training and finding the SOS website.
It's hard to believe that in the 2010's Christian vocal coaching was practically non-existent, but it was, and there was a real need for professional coaching. Thankfully, professional voice coaching is now considered an important aspect of ministry for worship singers and Christian coaches are growing in the Kingdom.
But we're only at the beginning.
There are still many who are not yet convinced about voice training as a worship leader tool.
VIM lessons and courses are designed to be accessible and affordable. Exploring new resources and avenues of engaging singers in good healthy vocal practice.
